lichtfestival 2015

word was that the previous light festival in 2012 was such a huge success amassing more spectators than the 10-day summer festival. so this year they spread over 40 displays all over the city in a 5-km course and extended the celebration into 4 days. i cannot say how beautiful the 2012 festival was, but this one? definitely superb!

i love unconventional photobooths, haha.
dorobou training ground. train 'em while they're young!
reflections.
yay, bunny!

dora, stachuu?
apart from the main attractions there are also these random signs scattered all over. i made it my mission during night #2 to scout all of them out.

thanks, fred.
onegai, huhu.
dou iu imi kana?
yes. okay.
..and alice found the big, fluffy rabbits a few minutes later.
hahaha, this one's my favorite. dedicated to all fellow coffee fanatics.
omg.
simple and complicated.
dancing!
boop!
rares, we both follow the tech. of ic and microsystems course. found him doing the #selfIR and we ended up going through the  rest of the route together. good thing i saw someone i knew or else i'd have jumped on my bike and went home the moment snow started to fall. had i done that i wouldn't have seen this mobile in the snow which was really awesome! he's romanian, of dracula's blood. lels.
so this is how fielding is done by the enlightened :P
purty doodels!
the exact moment a neutral portal was captured for the resistance. go smurfs!
(and below: my rather pathetic attempt at reconstructing the book tower. ugh, weak!)

i'm so lucky to have witnessed this awesome event and may the upcoming light festivals be as beautiful!

#Ailee

#Ailee. I like the sound of that :D

i know i promised myself not to get too carried away with the game, but a bit of guidance wouldn't hurt especially since my "mentor" is so many miles away. i'm still only doing it when i'm free and i still hate my user name though.

nobody's sleeping tonight

.. and probably also for the rest of the month.

stole the cushion >:) nobody uses the common room these days anyway, too bad i couldn't carry the entire couch upstairs.

i always end up making a mess of the whole room when i study. one of the best birthday gifts my sister gave me back in the day was that of a pack of hazelnut-flavored, 3-in-1 coffee (fanning my love affair with coffee), and the service of tidying up my whole study area..which she probably did because towards the end of every busy study period my mess would start creeping into her side of the room and she'd almost always find me sleeping on her bed because mine was overrun with books and notes and my army of stuffed toys headed by my 4-ft tall teddy bear, nicholas.

come think of it, they never understood why i'd give inanimate, fluffy friends the (rest of the) bed (not covered with mess) and sleep on the sofa, rather than tuck them away in a cabinet for the night. they have feelings! plus they make good reference points, like, where did i put my binder? oh, under nick's leg.

it was such a nice feeling coming home and seeing my desk top again after a long while.

this is why i'd need a whole separate room as a study with cushions and stuff in my own house if i want to contain this occasional mess and keep my bed always available for sleeping.

white christmas, finally!

after almost two weeks of steadily rising temperature, it plummeted well below zero overnight and i couldn't be any happier. a few minutes after the first snowflakes fell i was already out and about prancing in the snow forgetting i was only in my cotton pyjamas (yes, cotton. my room is in the tropics haha). anyway, the adrenaline rush lasted only a few minutes before the tugging cold reminded me i should wear warmer, not to mention more decent, clothes especially outside at midnight. it's a really a good thing my flatmates all went home for the holidays so i don't have to be in any way discreet about feeling like a kid running up and down the stairs in record time and making large puddles of water on the floor ^^

it didn't snow much last winter and when it did it always fell on an exam day. every. single. time. so i couldn't bloody well enjoy it. not this winter apparently, yipee!

too thin, couldn't build a snowman, but whatever, haha.
grayer than grey.
:)
my shnowy wintery wonderland.
guess where the wind blows from.
it's mostly bricks but i love my backyard view.
sint-niklaaskerk.
nothing warms the heart more than watching older brothers being older brothers - one hand on the penguin, the other holding their sister's hand firmly, guiding them through the rink; or fathers gliding through the ice, a daughter on each arm. i want one..of each! weh, not really, hahahaha.
flowers for the hanged man.
i still keep my black socks in the freezer, though. who knows i might still get a good macro shot of a snowflake in the coming days :)

bidyow!
